On Tuesday, November 12th to Thursday, November 13th, Lawrence Woodmere Academy held the annual Book Fair located on the mezzanine. The Book Fair, organized by board member Ella Schwartz, and run by parent volunteers. The Book Fair gives the students a chance to expand their reading horizons and purchase novels they have been interested in. The organizer of the book fair, Ella Schwartz said, “The Book Fair is a very special time for our students, It’s great watching children get excited about making their own book choices.”
At the Book Fair, the LWA high school Service Living class put together a table with all the books they plan to add to the library for their library upgrade project. Service Living member and LWA Senior, Tehya Gerbino said, “Our class picked out the book we thought would suit the upper school library the best. Whether it was young adult novels or historical fiction, we tried to include books people would want to take out and read.”
Overall, The Book Fair gave students the opportunity to see the importance of reading and it helped open their eyes to new reading possibilities.
